IZA World of Labor website launches in Washington DC on International Workers’ Day

To mark International Workers’ Day and the global launch of IZA World of Labor, IZA hosts an exclusive event at the National Press Club in Washington DC on May 1, 2014.

The breakfast meeting brings together a select group of senior policymakers, including the US Department of Labor, US Chamber of Commerce and the American Federation of Labor (AFL-CIO), international media as well as academics and representatives of IZA.

Chaired by Dr Arup Banerji (Global Director for Social Protection and Labor, World Bank) and led by Klaus F. Zimmermann (Professor of Economics at University of Bonn, Director of IZA, and Editor-in-Chief, IZA World of Labor), the event centers on a discussion of evidence-based policy making with a particular focus on the impact of migration on the US labor market.

Amelie Constant of George Washington University makes a special presentation of her paper, "Do Migrants Take the Jobs of Native Workers?", and IZA World of Labor is further represented by Solomon W. Polachek (State University of New York at Binghampton) and Robert Lerman (Urban Institute, American University).

The meeting serves as the first public presentation of IZA World of Labor and an introduction to its role in providing evidence-based research in an accessible and compact format for global decision makers in labor economics.
