Spotlight on: Job search

A new year, a new start? It's no wonder that job search rates skyrocket in January; with New Year's resolutions in action, many people are starting to look for a new challenge or a change of scene. And, technological advances have made the recruitment process more streamlined than ever. Peter J. Kuhn discusses how online job boards and job search tools have been proven to reduce overall unemployment duration, at relatively low costs. Though there are still issues around regulation, analyzing the data could offer hugely useful insights into labor market conditions and shortages.

Read about recruitment issues in the news:

  • UK graduate job prospects at 10-year high
  • Teacher recruitment in India is "politically" driven
  • Social care industries experience huge challenges in recruitment and retention

Germany, Russia, and the Rise of Geo-Economics

By Stephen F. Szabo

The German-Russian relationship helped to determine Europe's future in the twentieth century and is likely to continue to do so throughout the twenty-first. This book analyzes how German policy towards Russia was shaped, and how it is likely to develop in the future.

Drawing on interviews with key opinion-shapers, business and financial players and policymakers and on a wide variety of public opinion surveys, media reports and archival sources, this is a key resource for all those wishing to understand the new geo-economic balance of Europe.
