Punjab government to promote "Women Empowerment Package"
The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) has signed an agreement with the Women Development Department (WDD) of the Punjab government to promote empowerment of women in the nation.
PPAF and WDD will collaborate to pilot policy-grassroots linkages, working directly with women’s networks and youth organizations.
The fund will also share data on social mobilization, gender mainstreaming, and awareness campaigns to better inform the development of gender equality laws and policies.
Literacy modules specifically nuanced for the needs of women’s groups will be provided to raise awareness of ongoing issues such as gender-based violence.

IZA World of Labor’s Lisa Cameron notes that social programs are not always as accessible to women as they are to men, and so are most effective in encouraging gender equality when they are designed with women in mind.
