International Workers' Day 2016

May 1 is International Workers' Day, or Labor Day depending on where in the world you are. To mark this date, our Editor-in-Chief Daniel S. Hamermesh has written an opinion piece on the relevance of International Workers' Day to the modern workforce.

Professor Hamermesh has also selected the following articles relevant to the theme of the day:
1. John T. Addison, The consequences of trade union power erosion
2. Alex Bryson, Union wage effects
3. Olaf Hübler, Do works councils raise or lower firms' productivity?

May 1, 2016 is also the second anniversary of the launch of IZA World of Labor! Watch our video "3 minutes with Daniel Hamermesh" to gain insight into why our new Editor-in-Chief thinks the project is so important, and his aims for the years ahead.
