The 2018 Henderson Conference commemorates the 50th anniversary of Professor Ronald Henderson's pivotal work on poverty in Australia. How has our social security system changed since then?
The International Network for Social Policy Teaching and Research, the University of Maryland, and Evaluation Review will cosponsor a conference on rigorous impact evaluation in Europe. The conference will be held in Torino, Italy, beginning with a dinner on Sunday, March 11 and concluding on Tuesday, March 13.
The Campbell Collaboration is co-partnering with the Global Development Network (GDN) and the Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID) for the 18th Annual Global Development Conference, titled Science, Technology & Innovation for Development, 11-12 December 2017, at the ISID Complex in New Delhi, India.

IZA and Barnard College are organizing the 2nd IZA Annual Workshop on Gender and Family Economics. The Bank of England, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the European Central Bank are organizing a conference on Gender and career progression, with a focus on issues specific to finance, economics, and central banks, to be held on May 14, 2018 at the Bank of England. Governor Mark Carney (Bank of England) will provide opening remarks, and Dr. Brian Bell will be giving a keynote speech.
The optimal environmental policy aims at equalizing benefits and costs of improving environmental quality. The IZA will hold a World Labor Conference, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of IZA, in Berlin, Germany, on Thursday and Friday, June 28 and 29, 2018. There will be 8 sets of two-hour parallel sessions, with each of the 48 sessions containing four papers. In addition, there will be: One plenary session each day with a keynote address, one by Francine Blau (Cornell University and IZA) and one by Chris Pissarides (London School of Economics and IZA); and a ceremonial dinner on the evening of June 28, at which the biennial IZA Prize in Labor Economics will be presented.
The conference will focus on employer engagement in education and training, vocational education and how these relate to the Government’s plans for increasing social mobility, the implementation of its Industrial Strategy and improving the flow of skills into the labor market post-Brexit. The conference also seeks to reflect on reforms and policy shifts in relation to vocational education and training and employer engagement internationally.

Like many forms of economic exchange, the process of matching workers to jobs has rapidly migrated online in the last two decades. Thus, understanding how online labor matching mechanisms work; how they affect economic outcomes like employment, wages, and inequality; and learning how to take advantages of the ‘big data’ that are generated by online markets all have important implications for the future of labor.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together about 30 researchers working on the economics of education, in particular on the theme “Education and the Labor Market”.
