Bank of England: Gender and Career Progression
December 2023Nairobi, Kenya
This course addresses the question of why fundamentally equal humans living in different countries enjoy very different standards of living. The aim of this course is to make the very latest research in economics on these issues accessible to anyone who is sufficiently curious about it. It is modeled after the award-winning undergraduate development course at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and, like its model, it is entirely based on research articles.
The Bank of England, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the European Central Bank are organizing a conference on Gender and career progression, with a focus on issues specific to finance, economics, and central banks, to be held on May 14, 2018 at the Bank of England. Governor Mark Carney (Bank of England) will provide opening remarks, and Dr. Brian Bell will be giving a keynote speech.
The conference will last for a day, and we expect that it will consist of 6 papers drawn from a variety of disciplines, methods, and perspectives. The call for papers is now open and the deadline for submissions is November 24, 2017. Authors chosen to present papers will be notified by December 20, 2017.
